Early life and education

De Andrade was born on the island of Fogo, Cape Verde and grew up playing football and futsal there before emigrating to the United States as a teenager. He attended Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was named Boston City League Player of the Year in soccer.

After high school he played two seasons of college soccer for Newbury College (NCAA Division III) before the program closed, then transferred to the University of Massachusetts Boston. At UMass Boston he majored in criminal justice while starring for the Beacons men’s soccer team.

UMass Boston Beacons

De Andrade joined UMass Boston ahead of the 2018 season and went on to produce one of the most prolific careers in the program’s history. Over three seasons with the Beacons he recorded 32 goals, 17 assists and 81 points in 39 matches, finishing among the school’s all-time leaders in each category.

As a senior in 2021 he delivered a record-breaking campaign, leading the LEC in goals (20), points (49) and game-winning goals, while scoring in 15 of the 17 matches he played. While still in college, de Andrade began playing for Brockton FC United in the United Premier Soccer League, an amateur national league in the United States. De Andrade first came into the orbit of the U.S. futsal program in 2021, when he was invited to a United States men’s national futsal team preparation camp in Rome, Georgia, ahead of the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup.
