Nimesh Gurung
Nimesh Gurung (Nepali: निमेश गुरुङ, born 30 May 1988) is a Nepali long-distance runner. He is a World Police And Fire Games ‘Five’ gold medalist and PSA (Police Sports Association) 10,000 meter and 5000 meter record holder. He is a successful athlete as well as one of the world's most famous world police fire game marathon runners. He has won more than 350 medals in his playing career. He is one of the five gold medalists in the various disciplines of the Olympic Games, Police World Championship (World Police Fire Games) among security forces around the world. He won two gold medals at the 2017 World Police Fire Games in the United States[1] in the distance of 21.0975 km and 10 km. Similarly, in the Police World Championship (World Police Fire Game) held in China in 2019, he won 3 gold medals in three different categories in 21.0975 km distance, 10 km distance and 10,000-meter distance. He is the world record holder of 21.0975 km and 10 km races of security forces all over the world. His best time of 21.0975 km in 1: 4: 06 seconds and 10 km in 28 minutes. He has won 200 gold medals and 150 other medals out of the 350 medals he has won in his sporting life from 2012 to 2020. He has been honored with many other awards and among them he has won the Police Support Association Best Athlete of the Year 2019 award from the Police Support Association in 2019 and he has been awarded the Home Team Association Best Athlete of the Year in 2018.
Early years[edit]
Nimesh Gurung was born on 30 May 1988 as the eldest child of father Durga Bahadur Gurung and mother Man Kumari Gurung in Madi Mulkharka village of Sankhuwasabha district of Eastern Nepal. He was born in a village called Chiraite. Nimesh was given a black name by his grandfather when he was young. That is why Nimesh was called "Kale" in the village. Nimesh Kale's birth place is in a remote place of Nepal. Due to his poor family income, his family was dependent on wages. Nimesh also studied up to 10th grade in the village with his family on wages. Now Nimesh remembers, he says, when I was in 7th grade, my uncle bought me shoes that I wore for the first time in my life. I was very happy then. He spoke. After finishing 10th class in Nimesh's village, his family moved from Sankhuwasabha to Basantapur in Tehrathum district due to family problems and poverty. After that, Nimesh worked with his family for wages and completed his studies up to class 12 from Basantapur. After Nimesh finished 12th class, he thought, now he should help his family by doing a good job. Then Nimesh started looking for a job. Went to many places in the course of work. He also applied to the Nepal Army but was unsuccessful, but he never gave up. Learning more from his failures, he continued to work hard and finally joined the Singapore Gurkha Regiment in 2008.
After Nimesh joined the Gorkha Regiment in 2008, his life took a new turn when he was 20 years old. Where in the past he was the Shepard man at home in the village, Nimesh, who was collecting firewood, reached the Gurkha platoon and saw the people of the regiment engaged in sports. Then Nimesh also made a thought, now I will become a player by running in the sports field. Which was not simple and easy for Nimesh because at that time he was 20 years old and started his sports journey after 20 years, but he took a decision and dreamed of becoming a good player, then Nimesh started working so hard that at that time he forgot all about his hunger, thirst, sleep, relatives. Staying on purpose. As a result, he lost 16 kg in one year. Looking at his hard work and his success today, he has given the message that nothing is impossible in the world. Due to his work, he participated in the internal competition within the Gorkha Regiment for the first time in 2012 in the 10 km race. It was the first competition of his sporting life and he won a medal by being second in that competition and then he thought I can do something now. Then Nimesh's sports journey became so successful. He never looked back, then in 2012 he was selected from the Nimesh Gorkha Regiment and had the opportunity to run the international competition Malaysia 21.0975 km (Half Marathon). In that race, Nimesh defeated 55 nationals to finish second. By that time, Nimesh had become a great player. For the next seven years or so, he won almost all the competitions held in Singapore. Nimesh is known as one of the most successful players in Singapore. Nimesh has won more than 350 medals in the eight years from 2012 to 2020, of which more than 150 are gold medals. The biggest title in Nimesh's sporting life is Nimesh's participation in the (World Police Fire Game), a competition organized by the United States in 2017.
He won gold medals in the 90 km (half marathon)[2] and 10 km races,[3] beating 90 nations in two separate events. It was a historic achievement for him. Similarly, re-participating in the Police World Championship (World Police Fire Game) held in China in 2019 BS, Nimesh competed in three different disciplines: 21.0975 km, 10 km and 10,000 meters, beating 95 nations and Succeeded in winning the gold medal. This was another historic success of Nimesh. Nimesh Gurung is known as a successful player today. In which his success is less known to other players. Nimesh Gurung participated in the internal race competition within the Singapore Gurkha Regiment for the first time in 2012 in a distance of 10 km. After finishing second in the competition held in Singapore, he won the first place in the competitions held in Singapore in 2013. Nimesh Gurung, who emerged as one of Singapore's best marathon runners in 2013, broke the old record of 10,000 meters and 5,000 meters at the Singapore PSA Track and Field in 2013. Returning to the 2019 World Police Fire Games in China,[6] Nimesh competed in the 21.0975km,[7] 10km and 10,000m hurdles, trailing 92 nations in three disciplines. Nimesh has won a total of five gold medals, including two gold medals in the United States and three gold medals in China at the 2017 World Police Championships. Nimesh Gurung in Nepal[edit]
Nimesh Gurung's sports journey has now entered its tenth year. He has managed to write his name in history in this ten-year sports journey. He is now 32 years old. As he grows older, he now has the new idea of sharing the lessons he has learned from his successes in sports competitions. He wants to encourage people who want to run in sports, share his experiences and be a good coach in the future.
Personal life[edit]
Studying Nimesh Gurung's personal life, he was born into a poor family in a remote village in Nepal.[8] As his family was totally dependent on farming, he also completed farming up to class 12 with his family. After that, he could not continue his studies due to weak financial system at home. Then he thought I would help my family by taking a small job. Then he went to many places in search of a job. He did not find a job anywhere. However, he did not give up and began to struggle and work harder. In the end, due to his hard work and struggle, he managed to get a job in the Singapore Gurkha Regiment.[9] Then his life took a new turn, he made up his mind to work in a field with a good job. He is very energetic. Even when he is working, he enjoys sports even more. Nimesh loved playing football. He used to play football with his friends in the village. Then there Nimesh saw the players do well. After seeing the applause and earning a name, then his mind turned to more sports. He met the players and inquired about the sport with great interest. Then he decided to learn something and now he will do something by taking up sports. Then he worked so hard and with the same hard work and diligence, today he has earned all the name and money. Today, Nimesh is not only a historically successful[4] player, but millions of young people can learn from his sporting life. Nimesh have become a source of inspiration. Everything in life succeeds through hard work and struggle.
Nimesh loves football and volleyball in other sports. Nimesh sometimes plays with his friends. She loves to travel to new places and meet friends. He likes simple Nepali food very much. Nimesh says that he loves sports till the end of his life.

Nimesh Gurung is a successful player. During his playing career many companies tried to sponsor him. Among them are world famous companies like Nike, Adidas, Puma, etc. But because he liked ASICS[10] very much, he worked with ASICS for five years. This company has been of great benefit and support to his sporting journey. Nimesh has been thinking of loving this company all his life.
