Nishan Bhattarai [1][2][3] (Nepali: निशान भट्टराई) (born June 12, 1996) is a Nepali singer and a recent singing star who has become popular from a reality television singing competition Nepal Idol. He prominently sings in Nepali and Hindi [4]languages. The Nepal Idol show, where he is one of the top four contestant is hosted by AP1 Television and it is part of [5]the Idols franchise created by Simon Fuller. He is from the eastern part of Nepal. He was born and raised in a small town of Urlabari of Morang district. His father name is Nityananda Bhattarai and mother's name is Renuka Bhattarai. Currently, he is living in Kathmandu. At the age of 20, he became one of the top Four contestants of Nepal Idol [6]. He was also one of the top Five contestants of Singing Icon Nepal which was a reality singing competition organized by Nepal Television.[7][8][9][10][11][12][13]
Early Life & Education[edit]
Nishan Bhattarai was born on 12 June 1996 as a second child in his family. He attended Bhrikuti Model school in Urlabari. The fist time he came into public's notice was when he sang kailash Kher's song saiyaan in his school. While in Urlabari Morang, he learned music with the help of his former mentor Bishal Rai. He also joined Bihani Kalakendra, a music school, where he was mentored by Kamala Khanal and Yasoda Shakya [14]. After coming to Kathmandu, he continued learning music from singer & music composer Manoj Raj Shiwakoti at Murchana Sangitalaya [15]. At the age of 12, Nishan participated in a singing competition Singing Icon Nepal organized by Nepal Television and judged by Tika Bhandari and Manoj Raj Shiwakoti. The show however got canceled when Nishan had reached top five. Currently, he goes to Shankardev Campus Kathmandu and is doing his bachelor in business studies.[16]
