Nithya Ruff

Nithya Ruff is an Indian American technology executive, who is currently the Head of the Open Source Program Office (OSPO) at Amazon as well as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Linux Foundation.[1][2] As the head of OSPO at Amazon, Nithya drives open source culture and coordination inside of Amazon and engagement with external communities. Prior to Amazon, Nithya started and grew Comcast and Western Digital’s Open Source Program Offices. Nithya is on the Advisory Board of Center for Research in Open Source Software (CROSS) at University of California Santa Cruz.[3]

Education

Nithya graduated with a Master's of Science in Computer Science from North Dakota State University and an MBA from the University of Rochester, Simon Business School.

Career

Nithya is a prominent figure in the open source community. In 2016, Nithya won the prestigious O’Reilly Open Source Award for exceptional contribution to open source.

Since 2017, Nithya has been director-at-large on the Linux Foundation Board.[4] In 2019, she was elected to be Chair of the influential Linux Foundation Board, where she is focused on advancing the mission of the Linux Foundation around building sustainable ecosystems that are built on open collaboration.
