Noatum Maritime

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Noatum Maritime is a UAE-based maritime services company that forms part of AD Ports Group’s Maritime & Shipping Cluster, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It operates as the cluster’s unified maritime division, providing shipping and transshipment services, offshore and subsea support, marine services and public water transportation, drydocking and shipbuilding, and agency and maritime services across regional and international markets.[1]

History

The origins of Noatum Maritime trace back to Abu Dhabi Marine Services, founded in 2013 as part of AD Ports Group to manage port and marine operations in the UAE. In 2016, the company was restructured and rebranded as SAFEEN, expanding its portfolio to include offshore support, marine services, and shipping operations.[2]

In July 2023, AD Ports Group acquired Noatum, a logistics and maritime services company based in Barcelona, with operations in more than 30 countries. In December 2024, SAFEEN Group was rebranded as Noatum Maritime, while other Noatum business units were integrated into AD Ports Group’s logistics and ports clusters.[3]

Services and Operations

Noatum Maritime delivers a range of maritime, shipping, and offshore services, as part of AD Ports Group’s Maritime & Shipping Cluster.

Its core activities include shipping, offshore and subsea operations, marine services, ship repair and dry-docking, and maritime agency operations.

The company operates a diversified fleet, comprising container vessels, roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) carriers, dry bulk carriers, and liquid bulk tankers. It offers vessel chartering and integrated shipping solutions through international routes.[4]

Following the acquisition of Global Feeder Shipping (GFS), AD Ports Group expanded its feeder-shipping network, operating among the largest independent feeder fleets globally.[5]

In offshore and subsea operations, Noatum Maritime performs inspection, repair, and maintenance (IRM) services, alongside diving and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) surveys.[6]

The company’s offshore capabilities expanded through joint ventures and acquisitions undertaken under SAFEEN Group. In 2021, a joint venture with Allianz Marine & Logistics Services (AMLS) established Offshore Support and Logistics Services Co (OFCO), focusing on offshore support, subsea services, towage operations, and integrated maritime logistics.[7]

Further expansion followed in 2022 with AD Ports Group’s acquisition of Divetech Marine Engineering Services, a UAE-based provider of topside and subsea solutions, which was integrated into the Group’s maritime and offshore operations.[8]

Offshore and subsea operations were further strengthened with the establishment of SAFEEN Subsea, a joint venture with National Marine Dredging Company (NMDC) Group.[9]

Marine services remain a central part of the company’s operations. Noatum Maritime manages pilotage, towage, and harbour operations across ports in the UAE, wider GCC region, and Africa. The company also operates public water transport services in Abu Dhabi, including ferries and water taxis, within Abu Dhabi Maritime’s authority, and has extended its network to East Africa through a ferry service in the Comoros managed on behalf of AD Ports Group. [10]

The company also operates ship repair, conversion, and dry-docking services through SAFEEN Drydocks, a joint venture with Premier Marine established at Khalifa Port.[11]

These services support both its in-house fleet and external clients, strengthening regional shipyard infrastructure. In addition, Noatum Maritime has integrated the long-standing maritime agency operations from the original Noatum brand.
