Noboru Nakatani (中谷 昇, Nakatani Noboru, born in January 29, 1969-) is the first Executive Director of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) Global Complex for Innovation.[1].

In April 2019, he joined Yahoo Japan Corporation as the Executive Vice President[2].

Early life[edit]

Noboru Nakatani was born in Yokohama city, Kanagawa Prefecture. In 1993, he graduated from Keio University, Faculty of Law. In 1993, he joined the National Policy Agency as a fast-track officer, after working at a Japanese mega bank for a year.

Career[edit]

After holding various posts in the National Police Agency of Japan, Nakatani was seconded to the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) at its General Secretariat headquarters in Lyon, France. When INTERPOL decided to establish INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) in Singapore to expand its scope and focus on cybercrime and innovation in policing[3], Nakatani was appointed as the first Executive Director of IGCI and served for 6 years (2012-18)[4].

In 2018, Nakatani joined Yahoo Japan Corporation as the Executive Vice President (October 2019-) and Group Chief Information Security Officer (April 2020-) of Z Holdings[5]

In December 2019, he was invited by the Internal Telecommunication Union (ITU) to participate in the process for developing guidelines for utilization of the Global Cybersecurity Agenda (GCA) which is a framework for international corporation. He formulated draft guidelines for the "Organizational Strategy" of GCA, and participated in the World Summit on the Information Society Forum 2020 to discuss the draft of the guidelines and inputs received[6].
