Nomtoibayar Nyamtaishir (Mongolian: Нямтайширын Номтойбаяр) is a prominent Mongolian political figure who was a Parliament member (State Great Khural of Mongolia) from 2012 to 2020, serving two consecutive terms. He had previously worked as a Minister and Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection.[1]

Mongolian People's Party released Nomtoibayar Nyamtaishir from his membership due to internal political conflict.

  • Nomtoibayar Nyamtaishir resigned as Parliament Member on his own will.
  • Nomtoibayar Nyamtaishir was arrested with no charges immediately after the General Election Committee of Mongolia officially announced him as an independent candidate for Parliament election.[2]
  • Supreme Court of Mongolia sentenced Nomtoibayar Nyamtaishir for “negligence of duty” with an one-year imprisonment. He refused the opportunity of parole and completed a full year of imprisonment.
  • Nomtoibayar Nyamtaishir is currently taking legal actions to prove his innocence. He was considered as a political prisoner by the Human Rights Commission of Mongolia and Amnesty International.[3]
