Noncho Vodenicharov
Noncho Vodenicharov (Нончо Воденичаров) was a Bulgarian stuntman, singer, poet, actor and former mayor of Radnevo Municipality. He became the first contestant to die on the set of any Survivor (franchise), suffering a fatal heart attack on Survivor Bulgaria 4[1].
Biography
Born on 6 November 1955 in Koprivshtitsa. He spent his youth as a stuntman in 40 films. He participated mostly as a rider in the stunts of many of the greatest Bulgarian historical films, including the epic strip "Khan Asparuh", "Time of Violence" and "Men's Times".
Over the years, besides being a stuntman, singer and actor, he was also the manager of a petrol station, as well as the president of the football club "Miner" - Radnevo.
Prior to becoming mayor of the town of Radnevo in 2003, Noncho Vodenicharov was known as the owner of the large fish farm "Nomikom" - among the leading in the country in the field of freshwater fish farming, on the territory of the Ovcharitsa Dam, not far from Radnevo. The Cultural Center in Radnevo, founded in 1981, is now named after him.
In 2003, by Decision No. 250 of September 5, the village of Koprivshtitsa declared him an honorary citizen of his hometown. [1]
At the local elections in autumn 2007 in Radnevo he won 72% of the votes in the first round for a second mayoral term.
Death
In 2009 he enrolled to participate in the Survivor Bulgaria 4 TV show. After a challenge on Day 14 of the game, May 30th 2009, he suffered a fatal heart attack and died. Doctors said that it was unexpected and in their examinations and research before each challenge he had shown excellent results.
Memory
All songs from Noncho Vodenicharov's repertoire, released in two albums, "Love" and "Home", were released in 2009 in the compilation "Memories of Noncho", including a DVD with videos of the songs from the two albums. In memory of Noncho Vodenicharov in 2010 the Canary Orchestra recorded the song "Life and Song" on music, text and arrangement by Atanas Stoev in his album "Roads and Merry". In 2014 in Koprivshtitsa, for the five years since the death of Noncho Vodenicharov, the non-profit association "Noncho Vodenicharov and Friends" was established. The members of the Board of Directors are: Iskra Shipeva, Petar Vodenicharov, Ivan Granitski, Ventsislav Ivanov, Diana Milanova, Hari Yanakiev, Volodya Nikolov and Kunka Nedeleva. The association has several main objectives: organizational, educational, information, conference and cultural activities aimed at developing and promoting spiritual values, education and culture, as well as supporting the personal realization of young talents. The first initiative of the association is the poetry collection "Poetry and Songs" with poems by and about Noncho Vodenicharov and the lyrics of all his songs.
