Noor Naem, also known by her YouTube channel name Noor Stars, is an Iraqi YouTuber living in the USA, and is the first Influencer in the Arab world to reach 5 million subscribers on YouTube.[1] She is known for her entertaining reflections and comedic skits which attract millions of views from all over the Arab world. Across her social media platforms, Noor boasts over 7 million followers, with the bulk of which on YouTube, followed by Instagram, YouNow, Facebook, and Twitter.[2] [3]

Early life[edit]

Noor was born on June 21, 1997 in Iraq and grew up in Syria. She spent her childhood and adolescence in Damascus and then moved to live in Turkey for 3 years, she studied english at the British International School Istanbul, after three years, she moved to the United States with her mother and siblings. She completed her secondary education in America and she was able to enter a university with a specialization in business administration.[4]

her mother is Iraqi origin and her father is Kuwaiti, but her grandmother is an Iraqi from Kurdistan. Noor has recently recognized the separation of her parents for personal reasons. Noor has one sister called Banen Naim, who has a channel on YouTube, and she has one brother named Walid.[5]

She registered to be a YouTuber in April of 2014, uploading a first video titled "What's on my iphone" in November later in the year. Noor Naem has posted more than 300 videos on her channel, amassing almost half a billion views.[6]

In July of 2016, she ranked #47 on the Tubefilter Top 100 for most subscribers added over the course of a month, with more than 350,000 new subscribers.[7] The channel’s most popular videos are the “would you rather” challenges, where Noor challenges her sister, mother, other YouTubers, and even takes ideas from her fans! In these challenges, Noor has done everything from cooking a full Saudi meal, to asking one of her friends to marry her, to dancing in public. Noor’s popularity stems from the creativity of her videos, and much of this has come from the creative collaborations which she has done with brands. She has worked with brands such as KitKat, Pantene, and Bellami, where she shared her favourite products with her fans in fun product integration videos. [8]

In May 4, 2017, Forbes Middle East published a list of the Arab World’s most popular YouTubers. Noor Stars was the first Arab girl to top the list and ranked at number two.[9]

In December 2017, youtube made statistic for the most viewed videos in middle east and she took number 5 at the most viewed non-musical videos, her video was "Marriage and cheating make-up" who gained more than 6 million views.[10][11]

In December 6, 2017 she was on the Youtube Rewind 2017, she was the first arabian girl in the video.[12][13][14]
