NORCET (Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test) exam is conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi. The exam aims to recruit qualified nurses as nursing officers (staff nurses) at 18 different AIIMS and other hospitals all over India. NORCET exam is a Computer Based Test from the assigned places across India. NORCET is conducted every year around September. Applications are invited in August.

Depending on the available Nurse courses in India eligibility criteria for NORCET exams varies[1]. Let's see the eligibility criteria for NORCET exam below:

  • B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing / B.Sc. Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council/State Nursing Council recognized Institute or University and Registered as Nurses & Midwife in State / Indian Nursing Council.[2][3]
  • B.Sc. (Post-Certificate) / Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council/State Nursing Council recognized Institute/ University and Registered as Nurses & Midwife in State / Indian Nursing Council.
  • Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery from an Indian Nursing Council/State Nursing Council recognized Institute / Board or Council with Two Years’ Experience in a minimum 50-bed Hospital. They have to be Registered as a nurse & Midwife in the State / Indian Nursing Council.

The applicants can apply on the official AIIMS exam site. Application fees charged for the form are

  1. General/OBC Candidates - Rs.3000/- (Rupees Three Thousand only)
  2. SC/ST Candidates/EWS - Rs.2400/- (Rupees Twenty-Four Hundred only)
  3. Persons with Disabilities - Exempted

The selected Nurses can work as a Nursing Officer post in any of the listed 18 AIIMS. Nursing Officer remuneration will be at Level 07 in the Pay Matrix pre-revised Pay Band-2 of Rs.9300-34800 with Grade Pay of Rs.4600/.
