Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck". Nordic American Tankers is a shipping company with 33 medium sized tankers in the suezmax class. The company was established in 1995 by Herbjørn Hansson as the president and chairman. The company's headquarters is in Sandefjord, Norway.
Nordic American Tankers was first listed on Oslo Børs, but left and is now listed on the New York Stock Exchange with the ticker NAT.
The company is known for its widespead practice of beaching old ships. In January of 2019 the Norwegian newspaper E24 reported that the insurance company KLP blacklisted Nordic American Tankers due to "the unacceptable risk that the company contributes to serious environmental damage and human rights abuses".[1]
