Founding of Leslie[edit]
In 1283 Norman was granted land called Fythkill around what is now Fettykill in Leslie, Fife. The settlement grew until the 15th century when it was renamed from Fythkill to the settlement of Leslie, after George Leslie who 2 years later was given the title Earl of Rothes by James II of Scotland. The following years James II granted the town the title of the Barony of Leslie.[4]
