The North American Review Press is the publishing arm of the North American Review. They have published six books since 2006, when the press was formally established.[1] Prior to the creation of the North American Review Press imprint, books were published under the name of the magazine. Those books were published during the editorship of Robley Wilson. The North American Review has published fifteen books in total from 1975 to 2021. Types of books that the NAR Press has released is poetry, short stories, collections from past magazine issues, and crime fiction.

1975-1985[edit]

During 1975-1985, the North American Review published nine books:[2]

2006-2021[edit]

During 2006-2021, the NAR Press has published six books:

  • Notes from the Flyover: Celebrating the Life and Works of Barbara Lounsberry (2006)
  • The Great Sympathetic: Walt Whitman and the North American Review[7] (2015)
  • Manifold Nature: John Burroughs and the North American Review (2016). Manifold Nature was selected as a finalist for the Midwest Book Award[8] and was the 2017 winner for the Eric Hoffer Award.[9]
  • Feed the Lake: Essays on the Craft of Fiction (2016)
  • Black Fin[10] (2018) by Mary Frisbee (won the 2017 Gas Station Pulp Crime Noir Contest[11])
  • Painting Angela (2021) by Jim Breeden (won the 2018 Gas Station Pulp Crime Noir Contest[12])
