The North Haven Explosion 2018 occurred at a residential home in North Haven, Connecticut, United States at 08:30 pm EST on May 2, 2018. Local police and a regional tactical team responded to a house on the south side of town after a report of a disturbing domestic violence incident that occurred over the span of 4 days. After hours of negotiation with the suspect, police entered a barn in the rear of the property. Upon entering, it is believed the suspect triggered an explosive device, injuring 10 officers and killing himself.

The blast could be felt and heard for miles; one woman reported to news outlets that it "knocked her off her feet."
Possible causes
According to authorities, the suspect’s wife had filed divorce papers earlier that week.
