North Korea, officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, was expected to compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games have been postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[1]
On 6 April 2021, North Korea announced it would not participate in the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics due to COVID-19 fears. It would have been on its 11th Olympic appearance.[2]
