North Loop was founded by Tahem Veer Verma in San Francisco, California, in 2019 for international students[2], and launched a no-fee international debit mastercard alongside a FDIC-insured checking account provided by North Loop’s partner bank in the US, Evolve Bank & Trust[3].
In February 2020, North Loop collaborated with an Australia-based startup Cohort Go, helping students and their families pay for university fees from over 130 countries[4].
North Loop partnered up with Transferwise for global remittances services, announcing the partnership on 22nd July 2020[5].
Focus on the NRI community[edit]
North Loop is the first challenger bank focused on Indians living abroad. It does this by providing a digital-first experience for Non-resident Indian and person of Indian origin banking products ranging from NRE and NRO accounts to Fixed Deposit.
Mutual fund[edit]
North Loop's mutual fund distribution service is registered with the AMFI. Customers can invest in Indian mutual funds from around the world using North Loop’s mutual fund investment service[6].
