Ezra Onozutua (born 23 December 1996; professionally known as Northboi) is a Nigerian record producer known for producing Wizkid’s Soco, one of the biggest afrobeat song in 2018 and co-producing Beyoncé ‘Keys To The Kingdom.’ Off the The Lion King: The Gift album that features Tiwa Savage and Mr Eazi.

Northboi has worked with other high profile artistes, including Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Davido and Mayorkun.[1][2]

Early life[edit]

Ezra Onozutua is a native of Kogi State who grew up in Northern Nigeria.

Northboi was born and raised in Kano State, where he spent his first 12 years.He's lived in Abuja, Bauchi, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Jos, and other cities in Nigeria.

He began making music when he was five or six years old. He became convinced to continue on that route after that. He began professional production at the age of 22 in 2015, after taking a year off after his first year of university.[3]

Career[edit]

In 2018, Northboi produced an internationally acclaimed hit song Soco by Wizkid Which features three other Nigerian artists signed to Starboy Entertainment; Terri, Spotless and Ceeza Milli, which won Song of the Year at 2018 African Musik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) and collaboration of the year at soundcity award festival in 2019. Soco was certified Gold by Music Canada in 2020

In 2019, he co-produced Beyoncé ‘Keys To The Kingdom.’ Which features Tiwa Savage and Mr Eazi Off the The Lion King: The Gift album that was nominated for Grammy.[4]

In 2019 he produced and co wrote Wizkid’s hit single Joro,[5][6] which bagged a nomination at the headies award for song of the year category.
