Northweek
History
Northweek was founded by Héctor Rey and Alex Huertas in 2013 during their first college year.
Héctor and Alex met some years before in high school, where they started buying and selling products online. After a few years, they decided to focus on a single product, sunglasses [1].
Northweek was acquired by Hawkers in 2016[2]. The two competitors joined forces to lead their sunglasses market space.
Products
The company's initial product line offered customizable sunglasses in eight different colors. As the years have gone by, Northweek has added different standard models to its portfolio aside from its customizable line, as well as additional products like snowboard goggles and accessories.
Marketing and media
Northweek products are marketed as being affordable and stylish with a powerful brand, focusing its marketing strategy on sports like surf, skate and snowboarding. The company regularly participates in collaborations with other designers and brands like Call of Duty, Ronaldinho[3] or Adventure Time among others. Last but not least, Northweek sponsors the Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racers Pol Espargaró[4] and Álex Márquez.
Influence
Celebrities like Ronaldinho or Victor Valdés have been known to wear Northweek sunglasses.
