Notabene Inc. is an American RegTech company focused on crypto compliance and headquartered in Brooklyn, New York. The firm was co-founded in 2020 by former ConsenSys’ employees Pelle Braendgaard (CEO.[1]), Alice Nawfal, Andres Junge and Ania Lipinska[2]. It sells software to cryptocurrency companies and crypto exchanges to make them compliant with the FATF’s Travel Rule to combat money laundering in the cryptocurrency space.

It works with cryptocurrencies and exchanges such as Tether[3], Bitso, Bitstamp[4], Crypto.com, Bitfinex[5], Refinitiv[6], and blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis[7]; to comply with AML & CFT regulations around the world.

History

Notabene was founded in 2020[8]. Their founding team previously worked at uPort, a startup that spun out of ConsenSys in 2019[9]

During the Series A round in November 2021, they received $10.20 million in funding. As a result of this, Notabene's valuation has increased to $45 million[10].

In March 2021, they partnered with crypto blockchain analytics firms Chainalysis to help them comply with the FATF's Travel Rule across different countries and jurisdictions. This partnership was called one of the top 10 most innovative joint ventures of 2022 according to American business publication Fast Company[11].
