Nottingham Hackspace (often shortened to nottinghack) is a non-profit, community owned hackerspace in Nottingham, UK. The hackspace was founded in 2010.[1] and has over 500 paying members[2]

Founding and the Early Years[edit]

Nottingham Hackspace was founded in March 2010 after a small group of people organised a show and tell at Ye Olde Salutation Inn. This was attended by 30-40 members of the public.

Initially, Nottingham Hackspace was based in The Art Organisation (based in the Old Police Station on Station Street) in a small storage room, which was soon expanded into a small workspace. Loss of this lease in early 2011 was picked up by Boing Boing[3], leading to a number of donations allowing the hackspace to move into its current premises.

The hackspace moved into their current premises in May 2011, holding a public open day event to celebrate[4].

Facilities[edit]

Nottingham Hackspace is split across two floors and provides equipment for metal work, woodwork, crafts, electronics, bicycle repair, 3D Printing and laser cutting.
