Nottingham University Handball Club is a student run organisation, which trains at the University of Nottingham and has competitive handball teams in the English National Handball league. For the 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons, the Men's team entered the League North, while in previous seasons, the Men's team played in League South. The Women's team has played in the second tier, 'Development league' of the Woman's League.
The club was founded in 1992 and remains the only Handball club in the East Midlands. The club has hosted national University competitions on two occasions, in 2006 and 2009, as well as entering into Championships hosted elsewhere.
In the 2006 British Student Championships, Nottingham's female team won their competition beating the combined Southampton and Oxford team in the final. The men came third in the competition behind winners Oxford University and runners up Manchester University.
In 2009, The University Handball Championships came back to Nottingham and saw the Men's team finishing second, losing by a single goal to Oxford in the final. The Women's team took third place with a win over Manchester University, having lost to eventual winners Glasgow in the semi final.
In 2013, The Nottingham University women's team won the University championships, whilst the men's team managed to reached the quarter finals in London.
In 2014, The Nottingham University women's team finished second at the University championships, whilst the men's team managed to rank in the top 8 in London.
