On November 15, 2023, a group of heavily armed individuals(supposedly BLA) stormed a security checkpoint in Balochistan, Pakistan. The assailants, numbering around 6–8, seized three police constables and pilfered their weaponry. As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.[2][3]
Background[edit]
Simultaneously, in Quetta, another individual was apprehended for breaching a cantonment area without stopping at the security post. Ethnic Balochs have for years been fighting the government in Balochistan, a mineral-rich region that borders Afghanistan and Iran.[4]
Balochistan, bordering Afghanistan and Iran, has faced numerous terrorist assaults in recent years, attributed to various groups like the Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Islamic State.[5][6]
Reactions[edit]
Pakistan's caretaker interior minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the incident in a statement circulated by his office.[2]
