On November 15, 2023, a group of heavily armed individuals(supposedly BLA) stormed a security checkpoint in Balochistan, Pakistan. The assailants, numbering around 6–8, seized three police constables and pilfered their weaponry. As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Background

Simultaneously, in Quetta, another individual was apprehended for breaching a cantonment area without stopping at the security post. Ethnic Balochs have for years been fighting the government in Balochistan, a mineral-rich region that borders Afghanistan and Iran.

Balochistan, bordering Afghanistan and Iran, has faced numerous terrorist assaults in recent years, attributed to various groups like the Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Islamic State.

Reactions

Pakistan's caretaker interior minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the incident in a statement circulated by his office.
