In the summer of 2017, Rustamov first went to Azerbaijan, and then he went from Azerbaijan to Iran, and from Iran. Rustamov used a fake passport to illegally enter Turkey from Iran. Rustamov has since settled in Istanbul and continues to cooperate with the local Islamic State group. In November 2018, the Turkish government put him on the international wanted list on terrorism charges. He fled from Turkey to Georgia, and then Abu Nuradin Rustamov was arrested in a special operation organized by the CIA and the State Security Service of Georgia and the Ministry of the Interior (Turkey) government, held in custody in Georgia, and then released.[2]
