Nuvo Instrumental is a manufacturer of wind instruments. Nuvo is also a publisher of an elementary school music program called WindStars.[1] The company produces a range of plastic instruments that are lighter than traditional instruments which are suitable for beginners[2]. Since the instruments are made of plastic they are waterproof and can be easily sanitized in soap and water[3].

History[edit]

Origins[edit]

Nuvo was founded in 2008 after Graham Lyons (Founder) visited Max Clissold in Hong Kong to discuss the redesign of the Lyons C Clarinet[4], which was played by the young Julian Bliss at age 4 and in the same year, in 1993, it won a British Design Award, and later won the Music Industries Association for Best Export Initiative in 2010[5]

Silicone Key Covers[edit]

There have been cases reported in the USA[6] and in Japan[7] where the silicone keys on the NUVO Recorder+ allowed children with developmental disabilities to play the recorder and participate in the school's music class because the their small fingers can completely seal the tone holes by pressing anywhere on the silicone key covers[8]
