The Nyishis have a vast knowledge of different techniques of Hunting, as hunting was a major occupation for their subsistence in the past. They are highly skilled in using bows and arrows and archery is a popular sport. They make simple bamboo traps to capture birds and smaller animals. The Nyishis are followers of Donyi Poloism and also practice Shamanism. According to the Nyishis, there are numerous deities present on earth of mountains, rivers, forests, animals, crops and so on.
