OTRAC is an Egyptian construction company based in Cairo.
History[edit]
OTRAC was founded in Cairo in 1992 by Hatem Ouda, for trading and dealing imported earthmoving equipment, and spare parts,[1] acquiring an exclusive contract for Furukawa Rock Drill Ltd for rock drilling and hydraulic breaking machines in Egypt in 1994. In 2001, the firm became a joint-stock company subject to Egyptian law No. 159 of 1981
It is the sole agent in Egyp for heavy equipment companies Doosan, Bobcat, Furukawa, Tesmec, Venieri, Cimline, Graco, Broddson; and also Himoinsa for [[Engine-generator] sets]. OTRAC provides maintenance, training and other after-sales services[2] through its in-house and field service engineers[3]
Projects[edit]
OTRAC is involved in the infrastructural development sectors of Egypt’s economy. [4] It participated in the extension of the Suez Canal by supplying Egypt’s defence ministry with equipment from Doosan and Bobcat.[5] Additionally, OTRAC through its diesel generator set division, Himoinsa, supplied generator sets to provide energy during the second phase of construction at the Suez Canal, and delivered more to the Suez Canal Authority for use at the waterway’s new port. Public authorities such as the Egyptian National Organization for Potable Water also have had projects with the company.[6] As the Egypt-based Doosan and Bobcat dealer, OTRAC was involved in oil and gas pipeline projects in Egypt with its Bobcat trenching tools.[7]
