Oculyze is a brand name coined by the German SaaS company Oculyze GmbH[1][2]. It has come to be associated with the company's two main products, the Oculyze microscope & app assemblies for breweries[3] and wineries[4][5].
Oculyze is also an eponym, when used as a verb, in constructions such as, for example, "you should oculyze the yeast"[6], being utilized by brewers[7][8] to describe the action of analyzing the yeast with the AI technology developed by the Oculyze company.
Oculyze has entered the market of automated yeast cell counters in 2016 when the patent on Oculyze Technology was registered[9]. Automated cell counters typically replace the classical manual count[10], done through a microscope, on a hemocytometer. The automated yeast cell counters that are currently available on the market[11] are being used by brewers and winemakers, but also bakeries, distilleries, and ethanol and bioethanol (or ethanol fuel) producers to analyze the yeast and monitor fermentation at various stages in the production process.
