OhShape

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

OhShape is a rhythm VR game developed by OddersLab in 2019. The game was released on Early Access on August 15, 2019, and its final release was on December 13, 2019.

OhShape is a game with a simple gameplay: the player has to go through, break, or dodge walls to overcome each level. There are different types of bonuses, and the level design is synchronized with the rhythm of the songs, each one with a specific choreography.

Gameplay

In OhShape, the player is placed in the center of a virtual platform, and walls are coming towards them. Using their whole body (head, arms, and legs), the player has to go through, dodge, or punch these walls. The UI is simple, and the player doesn’t have to push any buttons during gameplay, just move fast enough to overcome each obstacle.

There are 3 types of walls:

Blue walls: There is a hole with a human shape in different poses, and the goal is to position the head and the hands to go through the wall. If any part of the body hits the surface of the wall, the player loses some of their hit points, and their combo streak gets reset. Red walls: Red walls must be broken by punching them on specific positions marked with circles.

Yellow walls: Yellow walls must be dodged. To overcome them, it’s necessary to crouch, lean to one side, or even both. This is one of the most fitness-intensive motions.

Items: In each level, there is a certain number of pickups granting the player extra points. Collecting them is optional, but they have a great impact on the final score of each track.

Life bar: The player’s hit points decrease with each mistake (when one or many parts of the body hit the walls) and recovers gradually with each success.

Combos: With consecutive successes, the combo multiplier goes up to x2, x3, and x4, which multiplies the score. A mistake in the combo chain resets the counter to 0.
