Glossary of Shinto

Oita Gokoku Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Japan. It is a Beppyo shrine, or a shrine that is particularly notable in a certain way with a significant history to it.[1] It is a Gokoku Shrine, or a shrine dedicated to war dead.[lower-alpha 1] Such shrines were made to serve to enshrine the war dead, and they were all considered "branches" of Yasukuni Shrine. They were renamed from Shokonsha in 1939.[2] It was founded in 1875[3]

An old WWII flag taken by an American soldier was returned to it in 2022[4]

A giant arrow was made at it[5]
