Oklo Inc. is a California-based start-up developing clean energy plants with advanced fission[1]. Oklo's first product is the A-frame[2] Aurora powerhouse, which was featured in Architectural Digest[3] and Goldman Sachs[4]. Oklo stated that its Aurora produces 1.5MW of electric power and is capable of saving one million tons of carbon emissions compared to diesel generator alternatives[5]. In a recent interview with WIRED, Oklo shared details of its Aurora powerhouse which can produce clean energy for decades without any need to refuel[6]. Additionally, the powerhouse also has the capability to convert nuclear waste into clean energy[7]
To date, Oklo has received a Site Use Permit from the U.S Department of Energy[8], demonstrated its metallic fuel prototype[9], acquired access to spent fuel from Idaho National Laboratory which is recovered from the Experimental Breeder Reactor-II[10], and submitted the first advanced fission license application to the U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission[11]
