Olalere Adeyemi was born on 31 July 1959 in Erinmope, Ekiti State, Nigeria.

He obtained a National Certificate in Education (NCE) from Ondo State College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti. Academic career

Adeyemi joined the University of Ilorin as an academic staff member in the Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages, where he progressed through academic ranks to become Professor of Yoruba Literature and Culture.

He served as Head of Department between 2005 and 2009 and later held senior administrative roles within the Faculty of Arts.
