Olayemi Esan (born Oluwapelumi Olayemi Esan; 24 May 1983) is a Nigerian broadcaster, blogger, artist manager, broadcast journalist, media practitioner, entertainment blogger, and talk show host. She is best known for her blog Justpye. She is one of the most prominent bloggers and PR managers in Nigeria.

Early life and education

Esan was born and raised in a Christian family in Ibadan, Oyo State. She is the first child. Oluwapelumi Olayemi began her hobbies of singing and writing at the age of 9. She completed secondary school at the age of 17 and, at 18, enrolled at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Adeyemi College of Education Campus, where she studied History. To begin a career in broadcast media, she joined other students in setting up a radio station during her final year. She was a founding member. Esan graduated from the university in 2006. In 2007, she began her broadcasting career, and later started blogging as a hobby in 2012. At that time, internet access was less widespread in Nigeria, so she posted from a cybercafe.

Broadcasting

After graduation, Esan worked for Radio Nigeria Positive FM Akure as a presenter. She received training in 2007 on basic radio production and presentation. She became a more active blogger in 2012, and launched a significant website in 2017. Olayemi worked with several media outlets including Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN, Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State BCOS, Orange 94.5 FM Akure, and Space 90.1 FM Ibadan. She started her online television program in 2015, having also worked briefly with TV 360 Ikeja Lagos. She is the media consultant for the Festival of India Lagos (now the Indian-Nigeria Festival). Olayemi Esan, through her Justpye Media, promoted the India Festival Lagos Online.

Philanthropy and charity

Esan runs a non-profit outreach called the Olayemi Esan Outreach. She shared photos of her outreach activities on Facebook. She assists orphans and widows and is passionate about helping children and the less privileged. She is also a Public Relations Associate for a non-governmental organization called International Support for Humanity.

Controversial posts

Olayemi Esan has been involved in controversies, including posts about a 60 million Naira hotel hype for a friend, a dispute with a publicist, and publications about celebrities, including one about Liz Anjorin which she later refuted.

Recognition

In December 2014, Olayemi Esan received the Yoruba Heritage Award for Female Blogger of the Year in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, along with other showbiz actors and actresses. In 2015, she received the JKRUE Youth Award for Youth Blogger of the Year.

Olayemi Esan was recognized as one of Nigeria's rising journalists in 2014. She was also endorsed as a Numatville Ambassador. Pye Olayemi Esan received a complimentary plot of land worth 20 million naira at the Numatville Publicist/Media Quarters in Abuja. [1]

Olayemi Esan was nominated for the Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Award in 2012 but did not win, while working as an OAP at Orange 94.5 FM Akure. She was nominated for Most Promising and Young Presenter of the Year (TV/Radio) at the Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Award in 2012. [2]
