Old Edwards Inn and Spa (OEI) is a four-star, European-style resort in Highlands, North Carolina opened in 2004, and purchased in 2001 by Art and Angela Williams; it was originally a historic boarding house and restaurant, the Edwards Inn and Central House.[1][2] The main complex has expanded to three blocks and the establishment now includes several off-site venues.[1] The expansions were designed by architect Keith Summerour and each room was decorated by Angela Williams with handpicked antiques.[1] There is an award-winning restaurant Madison's[1][3] that provides room-service to the hotel. Arts at the Lodge is a cafe with house-made pastries and breads.[2]

In 2013 OEI opened nine private cottages with a common heated mineral pool and fireplace,[2] with is a total of 33 cottages on site.[4][2] There is a farm that grows over 300 varieties of plants for the various restaurants and has a large, semi-open hall and kitchen for events.[5][6] Another property called "Half-Mile Farm", purchased in 2015, surrounds a lake with a 15-bedroom cabin and three smaller cabins built in the local 19th century style.[7] A private 18-hole golf course with a restaurant and club is just outside of Highlands.[1][8]
