Olga Kondina
[1] Olga Dmitrievna Kondina (Russian О́льга Дми́триевна Ко́ндина) is a Russian coloratura soprano and Head of the Department of the History and Theory of Vocal Art at the St. Petersburg Conservatory (St. Petersburg, RF). She was born in Sverdlovsk (Ekaterinburg) RSFSR (now the Russian Federation) on the 15th September 1956. After studies in violin and solo voice (Ural State Conservatory 1977–1982) she spent an additional three years at the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory, Moscow, until 1985. In 1985 she made her Mariinsky debut and has appeared in countless productions. She is noted for her impeccable technique and exquisite control of dynamics right across her coloratura soprano range. Judges in several competitions have given her the highest praise for control and technique.[2] Olga Kondina has performed in opera houses throughout the world, among others the Metropolitan Opera New York, Covent Garden London, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Arena di Verona and others. Her discography includes Russian Classical Romances (1993), Ave Maria (1994), Reflections (1996), Ten Brilliant Arias (1997) and Unique Baroque Music.
