Olgierd Tomasz Geblewicz (born on October 15, 1972 in Goleniów) - a Polish local government official, chairman of the West Pomeranian regional council from 2008 - 2010 , the marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship since 2010.

Biography

Olgierd Geblewicz graduated as a law student from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Szczecin, as well as graduating as an economics student at the West Pomeranian Business School. Additionally, he completed his postgraduate studies in business management at the University of Warsaw. He worked briefly at a financial company, then at the Goleniów enterprise Wodociągi Zachodniopomorskie, for the next four years Olgierd Geblewicz was the president of the management board of the Waterworks and Sewage System Company in Szczecin.

In 2001 he joined the Polish political party “Civic Platform” (Platforma Obywatelska or short: PO), he chaired the club of PO councilors in the voivodeship parliament from 2006 - 2008. In 2006 he became a member of the board of the West Pomeranian region of this party, and subsequently in 2013 became the chairman of the municipal structures of PO in Szczecin.

In 2002 he became a councilor of the city council in Goleniów, then in 2006 and in 2010 he was elected as a councilor of the West Pomeranian regional council. In 2008, he became the chairman of the 3rd term of office of the regional council. On November 29, 2010, he was appointed as the marshal by the voivodeship councilors. He began his term in office on December 7 of the same year. He has been a member of the Committee of the Regions of the EU since 2011. In 2014 he became a councilor of the voivodeship again, on December 1st of the same year he was elected as the West Pomeranian Marshal for the second time. Olgierd Geblewicz was the Vice-President of the Commission for Citizenship, Governance, Institutional and External Affairs (CIVEX) and a member of the Commission for Natural Resources (NAT) of the Committee of the Regions from 2015 -2019. In 2016, he became the president of the board of the Union of the Voivodeships of the Republic of Poland and the co-chairman of the Commission for Sustainable Territorial Development of ARLEM in 2017. In 2018, he maintained the mandate of the councilor of the regional council for the next term. On November 23, 2018, he was once again appointed as the Marshal of the Province. Most recently he became a plenary member of the Commission for Territorial Cohesion Policy (COTER) of the Committee of the Regions in 2019.
