History
In 2018, under the Nawaz Sharif government, the Punjab Agriculture Department decided to convert Chakwal valley into an Olive valley by promoting olive cultivation there. Two million olive plants will be distributed in Punjab. [1][2]
Production
Pakistan produces about 1,500 tons of olive oil per annum and 830 tons of table olives in 2022. Pakistan became International Olive Council full member in 2022.[3]
