Oliver Fanshawe
Oliver Fanshawe is an Australian blind and low vision athlete from Brisbane who competes in tennis, cricket, and goalball. He is ranked number one in Australia in the B2 men’s singles division of blind and low vision (BLV) tennis,[1] and won gold at the 2024 International Blind Tennis Association (IBTA) European Championships and the junior boys’ event at the 2024 IBTA World Championships.[2][3]
Early life
Fanshawe was diagnosed with Peters Anomaly shortly after birth and is legally blind.[4] In 2021 he became the youngest Australian to receive a seeing eye dog from Vision Australia, named Sadie.[5] He grew up in Brisbane, Queensland, and attended Ambrose Treacy College.[6]
Blind tennis
Fanshawe competes in the B2 classification.
At the 2024 IBTA European Championships in Poland, he won the B2 men’s singles title, defeating fellow Australian Ethan Cook in the final.[2] Later that year at the IBTA World Championships in Italy, he won junior boys’ singles gold and silver in the men’s B2 singles.[3] He also claimed a silver medal in doubles with Cook.[3]
Domestically, Fanshawe won the B2 men’s singles at the 2025 Australian BLV Championships in Melbourne,[7] as well as the B2 men’s singles and junior singles at the 2025 Victorian BLV Open.[8]
He has also been profiled competing in the Queensland BLV Open.[6] The *Western Echo* reported on his international success in England, Poland, and Italy in 2024, highlighting his singles and doubles titles and world championship silver medals.[9]
As of September 2025, he is ranked No. 1 in Australia in B2 men’s singles and junior singles.[1]

Blind cricket
Fanshawe joined the Australian Blind Cricket Team in 2022, touring India for the T20 Blind Cricket World Cup.[11] In 2024 he was named in Australia’s squad for the Blind Ashes Series against England, hosted in Queensland.[12][13] Australia won the series.[14]
Goalball
Between 2022 and 2024, Fanshawe was part of the Australia men’s goalball squad (Aussie Storm). He competed at the 2022 IBSA Asia-Pacific Championships in Bahrain, where he was listed on the official team roster.[15]
