Oliver Spiteri (born 4th July 1970) is a Maltese Football UEFA Pro Coach [1] and a former player. Currently is the Head Coach with Naxxar Lions FC in the Maltese Premier League [2]
Playing Career[edit]
Oliver started playing with his hometown Birkirkara FC at a young age. He then moved to St.Lucia FC (5 years) and won promotion to the Maltese First Division. After, he joined Żabbar St. Patrick's FC and again won promotion to the Premier League. After two seasons he moved again to Birkirkara FC for two seasons. During these two seasons, Birkirkara FC won all major trophies in Malta and in Season 1999/2000. they were crowned champions for the first time in their history. Oliver ended up his carrier with Lija Athletic FC, where they won promotion for the Premier League in Season 2000/2001.
Coaching Career[edit]
During his coaching career; Oliver started with the youth team of Birkirkara FC In 2005 he joined Qormi FC in the Maltese Second Division of Malta. However, in October 2006 he was taken by Ray 'ZAZU' Farrugia as his assistant with Marsaxlokk FC in the Premier League. The club finished third in the league and Oliver was appointed Head Coach of the team for the UEFA Intertoto Cup. In the first game, they obtained a prestigious 1-1 draw on home soil in their first outing against HŠK Zrinjski Mostar [3]. From 2006 to 2009, Oliver was appointed as Coach for the Under 17 Maltese National Team and from years 2007 till 2009, he was also assistant to Mr.Dušan Fitzel with the Maltese National Team [4][5].
