Olivier Marteel is an international snooker referee from Ghent, Belgium, who has been officiating on the main professional tour since 2006.
His first senior match was in the qualifying rounds for the 2006 Masters.
In 2015 Marteel refereed the final of the World Championship between Shaun Murphy and Stuart Bingham, the first Belgian to do so (and only the second continental European). He also refereed a semi-final in 2014.
When he is not officiating on the snooker circuit, Marteel works full-time as a radiology nurse. He has one child. He says he is not interested in the superstar status of some snooker referees and is happy to devote 50% of his time doing a good job on the snooker circuit.
