Oman Airports is the Omani-based operator of Muscat International Airport. The company also operates Salalah Airport, Sohar Airport, Duqm Airport, and three PDO airports.[1]
History
An association comprising of British Airport Authority (BAA), Bahwan Trading Company, and ABB Equity ventures undertook the management and development of Muscat and Salalah Airports operation from January 2002, on a 25-year concession deal as part of the privatization plan for both airports. Oman Airports Management Co. was founded.[2]
The company expanded its services in 2019 to include the administration of regional airports in the oil concession areas of Fahud, Marmul, and Qarn Alam. The company operates intending to upgrade and enhance Oman's airports to achieve the desired goals, as well as ensure a safe and unique travel experience for all users of its airports.[3]
Oman Investment Authority Annual report December 2021 said there will be restructuring and merger of ground handling and air freight companies (SATS) and Airport Cities Project with the Airports’ Management Company.[4]
