Omar Velasco, known professionally as Omar Apollo, is an American singer-songwriter.[2] He gained recognition in 2017 with the release of his song "Ugotme".[1]

Early life

Born to Mexican parents, Omar grew up in Hobart, Indiana. He danced ballet folklorico when he was a child. He worked at Jimmy John's and Guitar Center before leaving his parents' house to live with his friends in an attic.[3]

Career

Omar taught himself how to sing and play guitar. In 2017, he released "Ugotme", which got playlisted on Spotify and blew up overnight. He released two EPs, Stereo in 2018 and Friends in 2019.[4]
