On a bicycle (Original title: À bicyclette) is a 2001 French drama, comedy television film directed by Merzak Allouache.[1]

Plot

It is the winter of 1995. A general transport strike lasting for a week has brought the French region of Ile de France to a complete halt. Going to work on their bicycles, Anne, a postal sorting employee, and Patrice, owner of an industrial laundry, a chance meeting at a traffic light would change their lives.

At the traffic light, an amused smile is exchanged. As soon as Anne begins to pedal, her bike's chain comes off the rails. Patrice gets to show off his handyman skills. A thank-you coffee in her favorite bistro leads to them meeting again the next day and things hit it off. But then Anne's husband, an adventurer who disappeared in the tropics six months earlier, shows up.
