History[edit]
Founded by Muriel Arnal[5] in 1995 under the patronage of Professor Theodore Monod (1902-2000), in total harmony with his ideas which he defended, and inspired by Albert Schweitzer's “Reverence for Life”.
Muriel Arnal created One Voice[6][7][8][9] according to her philosophy of non-violence, apoliticism and total independence. The association is part of the unit fighting for human rights, animal rights and environmental law. One Voice campaigns for the understanding and recognition of animals' rights to respect[10], freedom[11] and life. Each animal[12] must be respected in its own nature and for itself[13]. He must be considered an individual with intrinsic worth; in other words, dignity.
The name of One Voice is literally “One voice”, the voice of human and non-human animals, the voice of the planet. The name echoes the unity of the fights which was dear to Theodore Monod, sponsor of the association. Defender of the rights of human and non-human animals, he placed respect for life at the heart of his concerns and advocated non-violence to denounce cruelty [14] [15]. There is only one voice, that of all living beings who cannot be distinguished by their species or of their belonging[16]
There is a magazine published quarterly, Noé.
