Onic is a Pakistani GSM cellular service provider. It started its operations in Pakistan on August 14, 2023. PTML, a wholly owned subsidiary of PTCL and the company behind Ufone, introduced Onic as a new digital product to cater to the demands of the digital market segment.[1][2] Etisalat, as the second majority shareholder of PTCL (Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited), played a crucial role in the launch of Onic. Onic's launch followed Etisalat's transformation into e& and its shift towards being a global technology group. This change came after e& acquired a 50.03% stake in Careem's super app business for $400 million in April 2023. Furthermore, on May 24, 2023, e& formed a strategic alliance with Circles, a Singapore-based technology company. This partnership was established to assist Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and other regional operators in introducing digital telco brands tailored to meet the preferences of the tech-savvy generation.[3][4]
Currently Abdurrehman Butt serves as the Chief Financial Officer and Bilal Sheikh as the General Manager.[5]
