Synopsis

Laemmle Theatres, the beloved 84-year-old arthouse cinema chain in Los Angeles, is facing seismic change and financial pressure. Yet the family behind this multigenerational business – whose sole mission has been to support the art of film – is determined to survive.[2]

Release

The film premiered at the Santa Barbara Film Festival on March 5, 2022.[4] It was released in the United States for a theatrical release on November 18, 2022. [5]

Box Office

Only in Theaters premiered at the Laemmle Theaters in Los Angeles on November 18th for its theatrical release [6]. It premiered in New York starting January 18th at the IFC Center and New Plaza Cinema. It showed in over 80 movie theaters across the United States from November 2022 to May 2023. It became available On Demand starting May 2nd, 2023.

Reception

Only in Theaters received praise from critics across the country. The New York Times described it as "Undeniably Compelling"[7] and the LA times called it "beautiful and complicated." [8]
