Ontario Model United Nations (OMUN) is a Model United Nations Conference located in Toronto, Canada, hosted annually at Upper Canada College. The conference was founded as a replacement for Ontario Model Parliament in 2016, and is a student-run conference by students from Upper Canada College, in co-operation with students from the Bishop Strachan School and Branksome Hall:[1].

Over 400 students participate in OMUN annually, in the standard procedure of a North American Model United Nations Conference. The conference has a staff of nearly 70 high school students made up of both the Secretariat and General Staff[2].

Committees:

At the conference, OMUN offers committees in 4 categories, varying by year[3].

  • The General Assembly (committees such as DISEC (Disarmament and International Security Committee), SOCHUM (Social, Cultural and Humanitarian Committee), etc.)
  • Special Assemblies and Regional Bodies (committees such as the United Nations Security Council, NATO, etc.)
  • Humanitarian, Economic and Social Committees (committees like the Economic and Social Council, etc.)
  • Crisis Committees (these can be historical or current in nature, or can relate to sports organizations, video games, etc. Some examples include the War on Terror in Syria and Iraq, Fall of Yugoslavia, Wars in Skyrim, etc.)

Secretariat and General Staff:

The Secretariat at OMUN changes annually, and there are multiple different sections and departments of the Secretariat. The Secretariat are led by the Secretary Generals, and OMUN's chief faculty advisor, Matt Griem. The Secretariat for OMUN IV is as follows[4]
