Operation Buckshot

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Operation Buckshot was a proposed British attack to recapture German installations in the Benghazi area. It was to be carried out by Lieutenant General N. M. Ritchie’s 8th Army in June of 1942.[1] British and South African troops gathered at the Gazala Line, the foremost Allied stronghold in northern Africa, in anticipation. But the German Afrika Korps struck first during Operation Aida, and Operation Buckshot was cancelled. The Axis offensive made the plan unnecessary as Allied forces rallied for defence. [2]
