Operation Marigold was an unsuccessful British special forces operation on the east coast of Sardinia (Italy) in late May 1943.

History[edit]

The operation was planned to capture prisoners to gain knowledge of Sardinia.[1]

Operation[edit]

The operation took place on the night of 30 May 1943. 11 special forces soldiers arrived at Muravera on the coast of Sardinia, but never reached their objective.

The special forces were seen, and had to return to the submarine, HMS Safari. A soldier was killed returning to the submarine.
