James Opiyo Wandayi MGH, CBS is an Agricultural and Development Economist and Kenyan politician currently serving as a member of parliament representing the Ugunja Constituency in Siaya County and the leader of minority in the Kenyan Parliament. [1]
Early life and education
Wandayi received his Kenya Certificate of Primary of Education (KCPE) from Sikalame Primary School in 1986. He then enrolled in Sawagongo High School where he received Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education in 1990 and enrolled in University of Nairobi to pursue Bsc. Agriculture and. He joined Kenya Institute of Management in 2008 for Diploma in Business Management. In 2010 he joined JKUAT for MBA Executive. He is currently pursuing LLB at Daystar University.[2]
Political career
Wandayi is a Kenyan politician and a Member of Parliament (MP) representing Ugunja constituency in Siaya county. He is a member of Orange Democratic Movement and a coalition member of Coalition for Reforms and Democracy.[3][4]
He was once ejected from parliament after disrupting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s State of the Nation address by constantly blowing the whistle.[5][6] [7] He was given a suspension from parliament from March until the end of the session, December. He challenged the action by the Speaker before the High court which ordered he be allowed back to the House citing that his electorate were not being represented.[8][9]
Personal life
Wandayi is married to Sharon and he is a father of four.
