Oriental Interest Berhad (OIB) is a Malaysia-based conglomerate that was formed in 1986 focusing in property development. OIB was officially listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad on 18 October 1994.[1]

The OIB Group, which comprises of 15 subsidiaries and 6 sub-subsidiaries, is also involved in commercial and residential property development as well as general construction and oil palm cultivation.[2]

History[edit]

Formed in 1986, OIB Group is a property development company based in Malaysia, largely focusing in the Northern Region of Malaysia. In 1989, OIB Group began its Kuala Lumpur/Central region operations with its first office located at Jalan Makhota Taman Maluri. In the same year, OIB Group completed an acquisition of Maxilux Properties Sdn Bhd and completed its first project in the central region,Taman Ramal Indah at Kajang.

OIB Group was converted to a public company and was officially listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad in October 1994. Subsequently, OIB Group began to expand its operations with developments such as Taman Desa Subang, Taman Anggerik and Medan 88 in the early 90’s. Larger projects such as Taman Desa Pinggiran Putra and Desa Saujana soon followed and was completed in 1999.

In the 2000’s, OIB Group completed multiple projects across the Sepang/Salak Tinggi area, such as Taman Arked, Desa Bestari, Taman Dahlia & Taman Seroja.[3] Following the conclusion of a Mandatory General Offer exercise by Jupiter Sunrise Sdn Bhd towards the end of 2013, OIB Group has since undergone a change of board and management alongside an adoption of a new corporate logo.[4]

Property Development[edit]

OIB Group maintains a strong presence in the northern & central region of Malaysia with a key focus in projects in Kedah & Selangor. Notable projects include Taman Serai Wangi, Taman Sinar Intan, Taman Permaipura & SP Saujana. In the central region which includes projects in Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi and Bandar Baru Bangi, notable projects include Taman Seri Bestari, Desa Seri Vista & Seroja Hills.

Oil Palm Cultivation[edit]

OIB Group is involved in oil palm cultivation through two subsidiaries, namely, OIB Properties (KD) Sdn Bhd and OIB Properties (SW) Sdn Bhd on 826.6 acres of agriculture land.[5]
